KITH x THE NEW YORKER Special Edition Hoodie

$200.00

Celebrating 10 years since its inception in November 2021, Kith (whose name is a reference to the archaic Scottish term “kith and kin” ie “friends and family” or “to make known” according to BoF) is one of the handful of NYC-based streetwear brands whose stores are likely to have lines of people waiting to get in at any given moment.

In early 2021 Kith launched a capsule collection in collaboration with the estate of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and The New Yorker, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the federal holiday celebrating M.L.K.’s birthday. Part of the limited-edition capsule was this now sold-out hoodie, which features a print of the January 20, 2020 cover of The New Yorker, created by Nigerian-Italian illustrator & textile designer Diana Ejaita. Named Portrait of History the cover depicts young kids drawing a portrait of King—per the artist herself, “they have him in their mind as an example, but they also have to create their own version of him.”
