“A shopping refuge for irreverent luxury,” per the New York Times, Totoakelo’s closing was one of 2020’s saddest fashion retail stories. Totokaelo, which only sold local designers on consignment when it was founded in 2003 in Seattle, was, to put it simply, the go-to place for designer pieces the city’s cool kids couldn’t find anywhere else, plus an atmosphere that was half store half art gallery.
This Totokaelo shopping tote is an IYKYK reference to New York shopping—a collector’s item from the References closet.
